Guest：My husband and I stayed here mid-december 2016 during our first trip to Budapest. The building itself is absolutely beautiful, and the communal areas are lovely. We stayed in the Weiler studio, which I would say is nice, but basic. The decor, as many have described, is shabby chic, with some interesting items, but seemed to be lacking some things you would expect in a hotel, like a safe. The temperature in Budapest during our stay was very cold, around -2 for the duration, and we found the heating was not adequate to heat the entire studio. We found we had to keep the bedroom door closed to keep that room warm, but the kitchen and bathroom were unbearably cold, and we found no way of warming them up. The boiler in the room also did not have enough power to heat the water, and the bedroom, and we had to have cold showers, in a freezing bathroom. Not ideal. During the first nights stay, the building next door held party, and we were kept awake until 3am by cheesy europop, so loud it was making the light fittings. Due to the nature of the hotel, there is no 24 hour reception, which we were aware of, and have no problem with. However, when trying to find a solution to the noise at 2am, there was no way for us to contact the hotel, without having someone at reception, and they do not provide a phone in the room. There is a 24h emergency number, but little use when our phones didn't work in Hungary, and no in room phone. There were other issues with the room, no milk provided, one of the rings on the hob didn't work, couldn't with the A/C to heat, radiator in the kitchen wasn't working properly etc, and found it difficult to get solutions to these problems as we were out most of the day, and reception was closed when we were back. It was such a shame as we had been so looking forward to this break, the last before our baby is born, and we came away feeling tired and cold :(
Guest：Upon arrival, we were great with friendly and helpful Szilvi (reception lady). She even helped me lifting my 23 Kg (50 lbs) suitcase up to the second floor. We spent the first night at the Tapper room. The room was awful-- there was no window so it was very stuffy inside. To make the matter worse, there was a ROACH came out of the dresser in the middle of the night!!! My fiance killed the roach. The reception was already closed. They only open 8 AM till 8 PM. The next morning, I went to tell Vivian (receptionist) right away. To my surprise, there was no apology from the Brody House. She simply stated "we will take a look". I explained to her that we left the dead roach on the floor and how I felt so uneasy sleeping though the night from the roach. Once again, she simply states "we will take a look". Not a word of apology! I don't know if Hungary has any type of health regulation. It's NOT ok to have roach in the hotel room. Once we returned in the evening, Vivian did not say a word to us. Nothing! She didn't address the roach issue. She acts as if nothing had happened. The dead roach on the floor was gone when we return. On our third night, we moved to the Printa studio. Everything about the room was so perfect! I really enjoy my staying there, unlike the Tapper room :( When we checked out, I experienced awful customer service from Vivian again. She miscalculated our bill and was going to charge us 8 euros more. Although 8 euros is a little money, I don't appreciate having to pay more. I took the bill back to her, which she acknowledged the mistake and refunded the money back to us. In conclusion, I would have given this place 5 stars and excellent rating. Unfortunately, poor customer service from Vivian and the roach killed it.
Guest：Pros: Beautiful property with very comfortable, clean attractive rooms. Great location and a good breakfast. Cons: Almost non-existent and uninterested service, no air-conditioning (we were told an A/C unit would be fitted in our room after our first night and we should vacate our room by late morning so someone could come in to install it- this never happened and no apology was made). I found it very difficult to carry a reasonably heavy suitcase (I was halfway through a business and leisure trip covering 3 countries) up an initial short staircase, through a courtyard and then up another staircase to the second floor with no assistance. Also, the bathroom light in the Droga room isn't great and it's difficult to get close enough to the bathroom mirrors to put in contact lenses, etc.
Guest：We had the amazing Etienne room as part of our booking for my birthday trip. Amazing art and layout which really made the trip. Gorgeous communal area to relax and the garden cafe downstairs did an amazing breakfast. Would highly recommend for a city break or couples getaway.
